On monday we headed out to Yuty to visit our friends Greg and Vonnie. To get there we had to drive 2 hours on pavement and 2 hours on dirt. We had a great visit. They have 2 little boys and Zippy has a blast playing with them.
Tuesday we took a walk around the town, relaxed a bit, and went to another missionary families house for lunch.
We were a little nervous about the forcast seeing as how it was forcasting lots of rain and our little car is not a 4 wheel drive, even if Travis likes to drive it like it is. We looked out the door Tuesday night and thought, "Yeah we should be able get out it's starry outside".
That night there was a HUGE rain hail storm. We got up in the night to use the washroom and realized the eavestrough drainage that was in between the kitchen and the bedroom area was overflowing because it was already plugged up with leaves, There was a beautiful waterfall running right out the back kitchen door.
At six in the morning Greg came to our door and said
"Hey Trav are you sleeping?"
Trav said "no"
Greg"I"m gonna go have a look around town wanna come?'
So at 6 in the morning the guys went off to see what was flooded. And we tried to get a little more sleep.
We decided it would probably be better to go in the morning before too many trucks went out making big ruts, so with a goal of leaving at 10 we left at 11... and 2 1/2 hours later we had travelled 90 km and had a very dirty car but we had arrived on Pavement.
Greg and Vonnie were taking some people out anyway in their 4 wheel drive truck, travelled behind us so they could pull us out if we get stuck. The boys travelling with them were disapointed that they didn't get to see any pulling action. we didn't get stuck!
In other news Zippy pooped on the potty this morning all by herself, It was a first for her, before this it was always us forcing her to stay there until she had done a little something. This time she did it by herself, so after a big celebration and hugs, Zippy got a heart shaped balloon on a string.:)
congrats Zippy!
